Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

KRSThere are about four bazillion reasons why I love this video to the single "Transformer" from Marnie Stern's forthcoming 31-worded title album This Is It And I Am It And You Are It And So Is That And He Is It And She Is It And It Is It And That Is That. "The new Marnie Stern record," though, is fine – and it is very, very good. It will be out on Tuesday via the kind people at Kill Rock Stars.

Right now "Transformer" is my favorite song but I like most, if not every, song on the album (and you'll read more about it from me as I spend some more time processing it). This video reminds me of the time was I was younger, watching MTV and being obsessed with the videos to Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" and Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer." This video has a not-entirely-dissimilar aesthetic. The song and video both show off her just how frickin' talented she is with a guitar.

Be sure to catch Stern when she plays at the Triple Door on November 10 with Gang Gang Dance.

(Via Stereogum, who also has an mp3 of the song.)
