Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

The preliminary lineup for Seattle's Decibel Festival announced earlier this week includes local talents Jacob London, Truckasauras, and Lusine. They join headliner techno heavyweight Carl Craig in the four day schedule of electronic music, visual art and new media September 25 – 28, 2008.

Jacob London performs fairly regularly around town but I've only caught one performance of the pair. It was at the Science Friction New Year's Eve party at the Langston Hughes Center where they played rad dance electronica mixes with sometime guitar accompaniment. They were also in the theme of the night, with a setup and props and costumes suitable for mad scientists. The room was dancing their glittery new year's eve asses off to the beats. Jacob London's been on my "to check out" list since, but the timing hasn't yet been right.

Truckasauras released their debut album Tea Parties, Guns and Valor in May. It boasts 9 original tracks, a cover of the theme from “Airwolf,” and an array of remixes by solid names in Northwest electronic music: Copy, DJ Collage, and Jerry Abstract all try a hand at reworking the group’s signature sound. The Trucks live set is super fun with a constant barrage of visuals brilliantly partnering with the tweaky compositions. The group recently started performing with a live drummer, which brings more depth and context to the group's sound.

The full lineup for the 2008 Decibel Festival will be announced mid-August. The preliminary lineup is below.
