Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

Echo & the Bunnymen are an international treasure. If Nicholas Cage was searching the world for the most influential UK bands of all time, he’d undoubtedly unearth a statuette of them in their hometown of Liverpool. Echo pushed british pop to grandiose levels, sprinkling soaring ballads and post punk vibes into the new wave dreamscape they helped to shape. They even had incredibly artsy music videos like this one for The Killing Moon. The song’s a genuine classic and on many a music lover’s “#1 songs of all time list.”

The effects of their ambitious rock reverberated outward throughout the 80s, laying the groundwork for much of britpop, and progressing into the large arena sound of current acts like Arcade Fire, The Flaming Lips and Elbow.
