Three Imaginary Girls

Seattle's Indie-Pop Press – Music Reviews, Film Reviews, and Big Fun

This is a pretty exciting week in releases!

First off, Mark Pickerel releases his new record Cody's Dream, with each and every track working together to weave a story that will stick with you long after the last note falls silent. Mark will be celebrating the release with his band The Praying Hands, The Fucking Eagles, and Starr Anna (also from his home town of Ellensburgh) this Saturday night at Tractor. You shouldn't miss this show if you like good times, and who doesn't?

The Gutter Twins are Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli. They are going to be playing playing for us all at The Showbox (Market) tomorrow night to support their new record Saturnalia out on Seattle's own Sub Pop Records. Mark Lanegan and Mark Pickerel used to be in a band together called The Screaming Trees, maybe you've heard of them?

Steve Malkmus & The Jicks have a new one too. It's called Real Emotional Trash and I think the name is provocative.

Barsuk's What Made Milwaukee Famous is bringing us a new record titled What Doesn't Kill Us. I guess we are suppose to fill in the blank. I thought what made Milwaukee famous was that photographer extraordinaire Laura Musselman is from there. Actually, I still think that.

Here's some more:

  • Autechre – Quaristice
  • Bauhaus – Go Away White
  • Black Crows – War Paint
  • BoDeans – Still
  • Born Ruffians – Red Yellow & Blue
  • Flogging Molly – Float
  • Gutter Twins – Saturnalia
  • Howlin Rain – Magnificent Fiend
  • Lady Hawk – Shots
  • Steve Malkmus & The Jicks – Real Emotional Trash
  • The Teenagers – Reality Check
  • Tossers – Live on St. Patricks Day
  • What Made Milwaukee Famous – What Doesn't Kill Us

Seems like there is a little something for everyone on this week's list! Remember that Easy Street's Queen Anne location is open past midnight on Monday so you can get new releases hot off the presses!
